Still Hiking after all These Years
(to the tune of "Still Crazy After All These Years" by Paul Simon)
by Wynne Gillis on her Burlap Birthday

I met my old buddies on the trail today
They seemed so glad to see me, I just smiled,

So we talked about some old times
    And gave ourselves some cheers--
Still hiking after all these years.

I'm not the kind of gal who likes to try what's new,
I seem to cling to old familiar ways
But all credit to the BWAG's for overcoming fears,
Still skiing after all these years.

Side-stepping mountains
    And then running down them
    Pass winter days away,
I sometimes worry,
    But why should I?
        It's all gonna pass....

So I lace up my spring boots
And watch the miles go by,
I know they'll do me damage one fine day,
But I'm happy for the honors from a covey of my peers--
Still hiking after all these years!
